Waukaringa ruins are located approximately 40km North of Yunta in South Australia. This area was first settled in 1873 when Gold was discovered. During its hay days, the town is said to have had a population of around 800. Waukaringa town was finally abandoned in the 1950s. All that remains today are the ruins of the Waukaringa Hotel and the telegraph office.
This picture was taken late afternoon behind the telegraph office, presumably a vehicle used by the officer in charge at the time.
